Don't over pay for your electricity!

As all of you know, I have never been one to shy away from using a coupon or any method of saving money for that matter. We received a notice from TXU, our current electric provider, that our current contract is expired and in 40 days they will be increasing our rate. Originally we signed up for a reduced rate along with rebates and they were betting that we would just stay on the same plan after all the incentives burned off. Little did they know that they were dealing with someone whom saving money is my favorite game. I did some research and as it turns out after we switch we will be saving $30 - $40 per month on our electric bill.

Here's how it works. Texas has deregulated electricity, so all the electricty comes from the same power grid. All the lines are maintained by TXU so they will be fixed in the event of an outage at the same time regardless of whom your provider is. Effectively the only difference between all the companies is the customer service. The State of Texas even has a website that your can go to compare the different prices and plans for all the electric companies in your area.

Here's how you can figure out if you need to switch. Go to http://www.powertochoose.org/_content/_compare/compare.aspx enter your zip code and other plan preferences (i.e. fixed rate plan, variable rate plan, % use of renewable energy, etc.). Once you find one that you like call them and switch. It is seemless and you can save some cash!

I'm Going to Eat You Like a Taco!!!

Hello Johnson Clan!

I have loved getting to be a part of your blog and read about how everyone is doing... Taylor, I know that you had Salado prom on Saturday and we want to see pictures! Hope you had a great time.

Since everyone was sleeping in on Sunday morning, Kim called my cell to see if we needed help with our Preschool Class at TBC. Lee was serving communion, so we were short handed. She was a natural...It is quite obvious that she has had experience with children for the past 25 years! They all loved her and warmed up to her right away. As you can see in the pictures, the favorite thing was making yellow play dough jewelry for Kim...and decorating her with it. Too cute. While were out on the playground, she was chasing the kids and saying "I'm going to eat you like a taco!" So hilarious...we all thought so.

So Kim, this is just to say thank you. Can't wait to see you with grand kids someday! I'm sure they will be familiar with the term "I'm going to eat you like a taco!"

Love to all!
Sally

Happy Mothers Day

Mother's day is Sunday and I just want to say Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers (which includes Grandmothers) in the family. The Lord has blessed our family with women who have a heart for their loved ones and we are all blessed as a result.

I especially want to say Happy Mother's Day to Mom and Nana (someone will have to tell her for me since I know she won't visit the Blog). Both of you have made a huge impact on my life and I am a better man because of it.

At least we didn't die!

Ok, so last week I was complaining about how uninteresting my life is right now. Well finally I have a story to tell...

This weekend Wilson (my dog) became very ill! Friday nigh he had a little cough, which (during the middle of the night) developed into nausea. He threw up
a couple times. Once on Cody's neck while he was sleeping. Cody immediate woke up yelling and completely grossed out! Me being the sweet wife that I am just started hysterically laughing! Cody didn't think it was as funny as I did. Sat. morning Wilson continued to "have nausea" So, I took him into the vet. They gave him 3 shots, and sent us home 2 medications. The bill came out to be $142!! As the day cont. he just seemed to get worse, he wouldn't eat, sleep, he developed a really bad cough, and would hardly get up. Cody and I were really scared for him, so we took him to an Emergency vet about 11:30 Sat. night. They thought he had some kind of respiratory infection. The ER vet gave him another shot and some medicine to treat his cough, that was $180!! Wilson cost as much Sat. as he did when we bought him! But I am happy to report he is recovering quite nicely.

So then Sunday night at about 4:30 in the morning, we woke up to a knock at the door. It was the police! Someone had broken into our Condo Complex, broken into our hallway storage closet (but nothing had been stolen), and attempted to break into our next door neighbors’ apartment. The robber did not successfully break into the apt. next door, due the alarm sounding. Our next door neighbor wasn't home at the time, but they did meet the police shortly after they left at the police station, while they were there someone tried to break in again. Apparently there was an unlocked closet in our hallway that the police thought the robber had been hiding in. We have an alarm system that I think I’m going to get activated.

I fell alseep before Cody last night, and woke up to all these booby traps this morning. I think he was a little spooked by the whole thing. He had placed knives on either side of our bed. Chairs infront of the front door, in the hall way, and blocking our bedroom door, and boxes for the robber to trip over if he broke in. I couldn't help but laugh! Today when I asked him if he was scared last night he admitted he was a little paranoid. I think I would rather set an alarm, than have to de-booby trap the house every morning before I leave for work. :)

Prom 08 ***STRESSSSSSSSSS!

Okay ladies... Have you ever gone to the hairdressers and had your hair done.... only to hate it?!? Well that is what happened to Taylor today...STRESS! She said, "Mom, I am going to pull a Mary Helen!" And she re-did her hair. I have to admit it was a big improvement. Now to had to the stress of the day Taylor had to make at least an 80 on her Economic Test. Thankfully she made an 87!

The exciting lives we lead....

Everyone has all these fun and exciting things going on, first pedi, shot-put finals, personal trainers..... and all I have is hives!

Yes, hives, like the kind that itch! I have had them for almost 3 weeks!!! I've never been allergic to ANYTHING! It's just aweful...I've been to the Dr. and all they told me is "there's nothing you can do, they'll eventualy go away, and 70% of people never know what causes them!" UGH!

So, anyways that's the most exciting thing in my life right now... :)

Nana or Nana

Umm...can we please figure out a way to diffrentiate between Nelwyn and Alana? I mean, I've been thinking this whole time that my mom got favorite teacher at CTCS and that she got her first pedicure!

Some thoughts...

Nana1 and Nana2
Nana-old and Nana-young
Nana-first and Nana-second
Nonna and Nana

Physically Fit

So...today goes down as a very sad day for me as I started my first session with a personal trainer and realized how completely out of shape I am. Things I could have done without breaking a sweat in college were, today, causing my legs to give out underneath me. Mom, I know you'd understand. I went in today so excited to start this process and left wanting to personally do bodily harm to my trainer.

Here are my goals...to lose 10-15 lbs, increase my endurance, tone my muscles and take on a healthy diet. I promise to keep all of you updated on my progress as I know you all will be dying to hear!

Taylor qualifies for REGIONALS!!

Taylor advanced to the Regional Track Meet on Saturday in the Shot Put competition. She has won several meets this year and is now poised to take on the state. Way to go Tay!

Even if she doesn't win the whole thing, I would bet the house that she is the only cheerleader left in the Shot Put competition.

A first for Nana

Hey Family!!!
Nana got her first pedicure and loved it! We tried to pressure her into "Berry Pink", but it was just too daring for her. BUT, her "wild" sister is sporting a lovely shade of pink toe polish. Betsy all I can say is "Hey girl hey!" We have decided to make this a quarterly event.
